Jonas Janke

We are excited to welcome Jonas Janke to INDESEM 2025 and to host an interview with several partners at their office. Their work critically engages with the themes of obsolescence, adaptability, and reuse in architecture. As key figures in contemporary architectural discourse, they challenge conventional approaches to building lifecycles, advocating for sustainable transformation over demolition. Their projects explore how architecture can respond to shifting social, economic, and material conditions, emphasizing flexibility, resourcefulness, and critical reuse. Through their research, practice, and built work—including projects like  San Gimignano  and  Antivilla—they redefine obsolescence as a generative force rather than a final stage. Their perspectives will be essential to this year’s conversation on rethinking what is considered outdated and how we can build with the past rather than against it.
