PARABASE
Pablo Garrido Arnaiz
Parabase is an architecture and urbanism studio based in Basel, Mexico City and Barcelona. The collective operates across architecture, research and teaching, with a focus on reuse, context-driven design and social engagement. Their project Elementa in Basel, which incorporates reused concrete from a dismantled parking garage into new housing, exemplifies their interest in material circularity and transformative urban strategies. Parabase has also been active in academia, teaching at ETSAB, USI AAM and BFH AHB, and has received multiple awards for both built work and curatorial projects, including recognition from the Swiss Art Awards, the Venice Biennale and the AJAC Awards.
Parabase was founded by Pablo Garrido Arnaiz and Carla Ferrando Costansa, who established the studio as a collaborative platform for critical architectural practice. Their backgrounds span Europe and Latin America and their work reflects a shared interest in architecture as a cultural and political project, rooted in construction, informed by context and driven by the potential of reuse and reinvention.
